How billing works

Enterprise agreements: Your signed agreement controls pricing, included learners, overage rates, AI allowance, and payment terms. The standard self-service prices below do not replace your agreement.

Each workspace has its own plan and AI credit balance. Open Workspace → Billing to see its agreement, invoices, and credits.

Start an instructor workspace

Choose Create workspace under Start fresh during signup. Enter its name, use case, expected learner count, industry, and your job title. You can also add a phone number. Select its country code first. You can then explore the platform. Choose a plan before you send your first message or create content. Onboarding does not require invitations or payment. When you try an action that requires payment, the plan selector opens directly. Opening a page does not start checkout. Close it to return to the normal page layout. The feature table appears below the prices.

The standard instructor offer costs $200 per instructor each month, with 50 monthly active learners included per workspace. Each additional active learner costs $5 for that billing month. Two instructors cost $400 each month and still include 50 monthly active learners.

Owners, administrators, and instructors use instructor places.

To change paid instructor places, open Billing, then expand Manage instructors. Review the charge due today and the new monthly total before you confirm. Additional instructor places become available automatically after successful payment. You do not need support approval. If your card needs verification or payment fails, complete the payment before assigning more instructors. Workspace membership and course access determine who is a learner. Activity determines the monthly learner charge. Invitations and inactive learner accounts do not create monthly active learner charges.

Your workspace can use an instructor-and-learner agreement or a legacy seat agreement. Existing seat agreements keep their prices and rules. Check your billing page for the agreement assigned to your workspace.

Monthly active learners

A monthly active learner uses the workspace or its learning content during your billing month. Each learner counts once, across their devices and courses. Instructors and unbilled support users do not count as active learners. An account signup alone does not count. The learner must access your workspace or its learning content.

Your billing month follows your agreement dates. It does not necessarily start on the first day of the calendar month. Removing or archiving a learner does not erase their activity from the current billing period.

Active learners in a billing month Additional learners Learner overage
40 0 $0
50 0 $0
51 1 $5
75 25 $125

Learner overage is invoiced after the billing period ends, separately from your instructor subscription and prepaid AI credits. Rates are before applicable tax. More instructors do not increase the included learner allowance. If you cancel mid-period, active learners still count once for that final period.

Open Billing to see active learners, the included allowance, and estimated learner overage for the current period. Open People to see which learners count in that period. The full roster can contain more people than the active count.

Enterprise learner allowances and rates follow each agreement. Existing seat and Legacy plans retain their agreed counting rules. The $5 rate does not apply automatically to an existing or Enterprise agreement.

Features and setup

Instructor workspaces include course authoring, learning paths, assignments, assessments, certificates, tutoring, and progress reports. Instructor and Enterprise both include all nine learning formats. They also include the Knowledge Base, Workspace Assistant, Agents, and permission-controlled connected tools. AI features consume the workspace allowance or prepaid credits.

Some features need additional setup or approval. Enterprise includes all platform features. Your account team configures Sites, branding, and identity connections. Service terms follow your agreement. Simulations require course editing permission and an available published release or authoring rollout. A feature guide explains how a feature works. It does not override your contract, workspace settings, or role permissions.

Use the complete guide index to review authoring, learning, delivery, governance, reporting, and integrations.

Legacy Team pricing

Existing Team agreements show LEGACY PRICING in Billing. Your agreed rates, billing interval, and seat rules continue. The new instructor price and monthly active learner charges do not apply automatically. Your workspace keeps its current access and AI allowance. New workspace features still follow role permissions and your agreement. A plan change requires an explicit billing change. Enterprise agreements remain managed by your account team.

Legacy personal agreements

An agreement marked Legacy keeps its existing subscription price and billing interval after workspace conversion. It includes one instructor and up to 50 learners. Adding learners does not create extra-seat charges. Contact support to add instructors, increase learner capacity, or transfer ownership.

The original AI allowance and reset schedule continue. Conversion does not create a new monthly instructor allowance. Use Manage subscription to view invoices, update payment details, or cancel renewal. New customers cannot buy personal plans.

Sales agreements

Enterprise uses custom bulk pricing for your organization. Contact the Honen account team to agree on instructor quantity, learner capacity, and AI allowance. Existing contracts retain their agreed prices and billing model. No automatic seat-to-instructor conversion occurs. Enterprise trials follow your agreement with the Honen account team. Self-service signup has no trial. A sales-issued link can include an authorized trial.

Opening a sales link does not create a workspace or assign an owner. Sign in and complete the steps shown for your offer. The sales Preview checkout action is read-only. Sales must use Copy to share the customer link.

AI credits

Credits power course creation, AI editing, AI agents, and the workspace assistant.

The pricing page and checkout comparison show Excess AI usage:

Plan Excess AI usage
Team / Instructor Billed for usage through prepaid credits.
Enterprise By contract. Your agreement controls the allowance, rates, and payment terms.

Self-service AI usage is prepaid. It does not create a later AI overage invoice or a negative credit balance. Monthly active learner overage is a separate charge, billed after the billing period ends.

Balance How it works
Included credits Reset on the schedule shown for your agreement. Converted Legacy personal agreements retain their daily reset.
Purchased credits remaining Available to use after included credits run out. Purchased credits do not expire.
All-time credits purchased Purchase history, not your remaining balance. Excludes free coupon grants.

$1 USD buys 100 credits. Check the purchase dialog for current pricing. Credits stay with the workspace that purchased them. Legacy allowances depend on the workspace’s existing configuration. Enterprise allowances follow the agreed custom allocation. The dashboard shows the full reset date and time.

Credits pay for AI work, not a fixed number of courses or messages. Consumption varies with the model, content, context, complexity, and revisions. Past results and beta allowances do not guarantee future output. Pricing, allowances, and consumption may change as permitted by the Terms of Service and your agreement.

If both balances run out, an Out of AI credits banner appears at the top of your workspace. It shows the next allowance reset date. Workspace admins can select Add credits from the banner. Learners see a message to contact their workspace admin. Trial credits do not renew; the banner shows the trial end date instead. If credits remain but an action is blocked, check the message. Separate permissions or feature limits can apply.

Instructor AI allowance

The standard $200 instructor offer includes 20,000 monthly AI credits per instructor. Instructors and learners share the workspace balance. Check Billing for your included credits and reset date. Custom and Legacy agreements can have different allowances. Learner overage charges do not add AI credits.

Add credits and auto-reload

In Add credits, choose an amount. Auto-reload is selected by default. The dialog shows the automatic purchase amount, balance threshold, and monthly limit. Select the settings icon to change these values. Clear Auto-reload for a one-time purchase. Select Add credits and complete payment. Auto-reload changes apply only after successful payment. Opening or closing the dialog does not change your saved settings. Free coupon grants do not enable auto-reload.

To change auto-reload later, open Billing, then expand Auto-reload settings. Set the credit threshold, purchase amount, and calendar-month limit. Select Save auto-reload and check the confirmation.

A saved payment method is required. The calendar-month limit applies only to automatic credit purchases. It does not include subscriptions, learner charges, or manual credit purchases. Credits are added only after payment succeeds. Auto-reload does not allow a negative balance or postpaid usage. If a payment requires action, resolve it before continuing.

Legacy learner usage

Existing agreements retain their learner and tutor controls. A daily reset shown for a legacy learner limit does not replenish the monthly workspace AI allowance.

Voice, message, and other feature limits can still apply according to your plan. If a learner reaches a feature limit, check the message for the affected feature and its reset period.

Billing history

Under Billing history, choose:

  • Invoices: subscription and seat invoices, payment status, billing periods, quantities, prorated amounts, and invoice/PDF links.
  • AI credits: purchases, coupon grants, refunds, and disputes, with receipts or invoices where available.
  • Learner overage: active learner counts, agreed rates, period totals, and invoice status. Custom invoices can show an account-team status.
  • Seat activity: recorded additions and removals. A seat change is not itself a charge.

Instructor quantity and plan changes show a quote before you confirm. Adding instructors to your current self-serve offer charges a prorated amount for the rest of the billing period. The new quantity applies to future monthly invoices. Plan changes and instructor reductions normally take effect at renewal. Learner capacity does not increase when you add instructors. A pending or scheduled change remains visible after you reload the billing page. Complete or resolve that change before you request another.

For legacy seat agreements, seat additions above the current period’s already-paid seat count are prorated. Removing seats does not issue an immediate proration refund; re-adding seats within that paid count avoids charging for them again in the same period. Check the invoice for the actual amount.

Enterprise pricing and proration follow your agreement. Custom invoices handled outside Stripe are not shown here. An unavailable receipt does not remove a recorded credit purchase.

For help, contact Honen support with your workspace name and the error shown. An executed enterprise agreement controls any specifically agreed terms.
